PORTER BELLYS
The Porter Bellys are a Co. Tyrone based 6x piece group with roots in Folk, Traditional Irish music and Rock music. The band has its origins deep in the Omagh and Tyrone music scene with 3x of the original members meeting and first playing music together while attending Christian Brother School, Omagh. Mark McAloon (vocals, guitar and banjo), Shane Tierney (Drums) and Gerard McCrory (bass guitar )all met and fostered a common passion for Irish rock music with influences such as the Pogue’s, Horslips, Dubliners and Planxty along with their very own blend of classic rock being at the forefront of their musical development over the years. After years of gigging and touring across Ireland, Europe, Uk, USA the band has grown to include another familiar and experienced duo from the Omagh and Tyrone music scene. Shona O’Hagan (violin) and Shari Statcher (whistle/flute) consolidate the traditional Irish music element of the band’s sound and bring a technical expertise which bring the band to the next level. More recently, Sam Barltop (Electric Guitar and vocals) has come on board and effortlessly lays down raucous rock chords and licks that Van Halen or the late Arty McGlyn would tip a hat to!
