The Messages

The Messages are London based Piper John Devine, Donegal’s Seanan Brennan and James Mc Namee and Cavan performer Fiona Maria Fitzpatrick. Born out of collaborations with Leitrim writer Seamus O’ Rourke, expect a lively blend of traditional tunes, songs and original material.

Seanan Brennan

Seanan Brennan comes from Rossnowlagh, Co. Donegal. A prolific musician, composer and recording artist, he has toured the world times over with various legends of the Irish music scene and is a long-time member of Irish super group, KÍLA.

In 2020 KÍLA won an IFTA Original Music Award for Irish language film ‘Arracht’ and completed a third collaborative film score with French composer Bruno Coulais for Cartoon Saloon’s Wolfwalkers. This sees the final installment in Saloon’s “Irish Folklore Trilogy” following the Oscar nominated and multiple award winning The Secret of Kells and Song of The Sea.

Fiona Maria Fitzpatrick

A performer from Co. Cavan, Fiona Maria has fronted various ensembles traversing styles from Jazz to Folk and has toured the boards as a solo artist and with her original female troupe ‘The Darling Buds Of ‘. She is a member of Cavan’s GONZO Theatre, world renowned Footsbarn International Traveling Theatre and works regularly with Leitrim Actor/Writer, Seamus O’ Rourke.

John Devine

John Devine is a multi instrumentalist, Singer, composer and Uilleann piper with more than 30 years experience performing and recording. John learned his traditional Irish music on the traditional Irish session scene, in and around London, since the mid 1970s, he still has strong connections with the Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and London Irish music Communities.

He released his debut Solo Album ‘P.L.A.Y.’ , in 2009, followed by two further studio albums, ‘The Devine Waters’ in 2011, ‘An Lon Dubh’ 2012 , plus the EP ‘The Gap Between the Two Trapezes’ 2015.

John Toured and recorded with ‘Grunge Folk’ legend Wild Willy Barrett for more than 15 years and has recently recorded with Gordon Giltrap, Tom Toomey (Zombies) and Jakko Jakszyk (King Crimson). John has been collaborating on creative projects with Seamus O’Rourke since 2017.

James McNamee

Donegal Fiddler James Mc Namee has performed and toured Ireland and Europe for years as part of many ensembles including Johnny Gallagher and The Boxty Band and Celtic Heritage. His roots are nestled in the Traditional Music style but expand far and deep into the worlds of Cajun, Blues, Rock n Roll and Country. He recently arranged and toured Dark Daughter’s Production, Sile Malloy.
