Our launch night includes a drinks reception and refreshments at 9pm, music from Suil – Hailing from Armagh Donegal and Derry, Súil. Is one of the hottest trad bands in the northwest. The music is hard hitting tunes that merge into a contemporary sound. Steeped in The Irish traditional genre, with Katrina Meheen on Fiddle, Paddy Kenny on Whistle, Paddy Danagher on Guitar, Mark O Doherty on Percussion and Leanne Doherty on Vocal and Guitar, group have travelled throughout Europe, Ireland and the Uk.  Their music is typified by extremely fast, sometimes percussive, flute and whistle atop complex guitar and percussive rhythms.  The Songs are sung in English and Irish, in the folk and Sean Nós traditions, from Scottish and Irish Gaelic.  The Band music is a stretch of organised jamming, blending melodies and improvisation into a single piece. The result is music that feels extremely “live,” for the launch of the 42nd Ballyshannon Folk Festival 2019. This will be a fantastic night of entertainment provided to you free of charge by the Ballyshannon Folk & Traditional Music Festival.
